Spring Teams Tournament
Our third annual Spring Teams Pickleball Tournament will be held this year on April 10 and 11.
This is a multi-part event:
- Friday, April 10 – Meet & Greet and practice with your team
- Saturday, April 11, 8:30 – 4:30 – Pickleball tournament Rymer courts
- Saturday evening – Catered Awards dinner at Woodlands Pavilion
- Saturday evening at 6 – Woodlands concert by The Cruise Brothers Band
Player fee is $35 and is open to SJPA members only.
There is a limited number of guest tickets to the dinner and concert available for $35.
There are also tickets for those who JUST want to attend the concert. These are $15. This ticket is also open to non-SJPA members.
We expect this to be one of the year’s most popular events and to fill quickly.
Players will sign up individually and then be assigned to teams based on rating to achieve team parity. The goal is to have 5 teams, with 16 players per team, playing in a Round Robin format. Each player would, based on availability, play in two matches (3 games per match).
For each tournament match, teams will field a men’s, women’s, and 2 courts of mixed doubles. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st place team in each division.
For players who have been members for several years, members new to St James, and members new to Pickleball or the SJPA, this is a great opportunity to participate in a very fun, social event and to meet many other pickleball players you might not normally play with. For these Teams events, we stress the words FUN and SOCIAL!
In addition to the tournament, your $35 Tournament Entry Fee includes a Meet & Greet practice the day before the tournament (April 10), pizza lunch during the tournament, awards dinner, and The Cruise brothers concert that evening at Woodlands Park.
You may bring a guest to the awards dinner for $35.
Anyone wishing to attend only the concert can purchase a $15 ticket.
The deadline to sign up is April 3.
Team selection will take place after registration ends and players will be notified.
Also, please consider volunteering to be a team captain or event volunteer.
Your responsibilities as captain are to:
● Meet your teammates at the Friday evening Social
● Contact your team members and determine their availability for play
● Schedule your players for each of the matches
