I am anxious to begin 2022 as the president of the SJPA. I look forward to working with the SJPA Board: Deb Chiarello, Mary Heathery, and Kathy McArther and the Chairpersons Joe Giese, Pat Allred, Al Hausmann, Kathy Goliszek, and Diane Norton.
I hope that our membership will grow this year to support the efforts of the SJPA. Your voice will help us maintain the courts, bathroom, lights, maintenance of the courts and grounds, parking, etc., and provide pickleball players with a safe, shaded, place to enjoy the sport we love. Your voice will drive the change we need and by joining the SJPA your voice will be heard! If you are not a member, please sign up and join the association.
We have achieved many fund-raising goals, SJPA donated $2250 to Matthews Ministry from the Holiday Dance and Membership party that featured Salty Dogs band and we raised over $1000 for the Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) while enjoying a Two-Day Open Play social charity event. I hope to build on these and increase our fund-raising efforts while we play and socialize.
We enjoyed many outstanding social and court events and are in the process of planning more fun, exciting opportunities for the SJPA membership. Kim Mihan is the Head Pickleball Pro/Assistant Tennis Pro. Kim is a certified PPR pro in pickleball and a certified PTR pro in tennis. I am in the process of working with Kim to brainstorm some new opportunities for Pickleball camps and special competitions with other Pickleball facilities.

Social Committee – Pat Allred
Social Chairperson works with the Board to develop social events to benefit the SJPA membership. Works with community professionals, and vendors for social events and organizes volunteers to support and promote events. Works closely with Communications, Tournaments and Events Chair(s).
Tournaments and Events Committee – Joe Giese
Tournaments and Events Chairperson works with the Board to develop pickleball events and activities as well as tournaments. Oversees any instructional classes offered to members and manages club equipment at courts. Works closely with Communication and Social Chair(s). May set up sub-committees as needed to complete work.
Sunshine Committee – Kathy Goliszek
A new group was created, the Sunshine Club, the purpose is to reach out to those members of our pickleball community who are experiencing illness, surgery, family crisis, etc., and need a little pick me up to show we care. The Club became the Sunshine Committee when the SJPA Bylaws were approved.
Instruction – Diane Norton
Instruction Director works closely with the Board and the Tournaments and Events Director to implement ongoing Pickleball events. Plan, organize, and run instruction events to include reserving the pickleball courts, publicizing events and confirming attendance. Solicit and organize additional volunteers as needed to support instruction events.
