Hi All! Spring is here and with the warm weather we are seeing lots of folks on the courts! It is so heart-warming to see everyone out there playing, taking clinics and lessons and having a great time.
Construction of the bathroom facility, lights, and electricity has begun! We are so lucky to have such a state of the art facility. Once our lights are functional, we will be able to enjoy pickleball under the lights. As we change the time this Sunday morning, the courts will remain open until 8:30 each evening.
The SJPA board has plenty of events ongoing and we are always adding new events. Thank you to Joe Beitz for thinking of events for each month and coordinating them in such an organized manner. Next week begins the Engage clinic on Friday-Sunday. We are so looking forward to the success of this camp. If you weren’t able to attend this camp, we are hopeful that another one will take place sometime in the future. Thank you, Scott Hettinger, for coordinating this!
Our social committee has provided vital assistance to the events we’ve held this year and are busy coordinating activities for the engage camp. Thank you, Pat Allred and crew.
Our latest apparel order has concluded, and deliveries are going on now. Thank you to Sharen Hausman and Mary Heatherly. Look forward to another order this spring/summer.
Troon has signed a contract with Selkirk and the pro shop is now carrying Selkirk paddles. Please stop by and check out the new merchandise. While you are there, check in with Kim, our great pro. Kim is available for lessons, ratings, and clinics and is always open to new ideas.
As we venture into this next phase of court usage, just a few reminders. We all want to enjoy our sport so please try to encourage new players you see out there on the courts. With so many courts in play, please be aware that excess screaming, etc. may impact other’s games. If a ball lands on another court, please yell out, “ball” so no one trips over it. Please wait until players have finished play before entering the court for your court time. If their time is up, let them know verbally. We now have trashcans so please help to keep our courts looking good by picking up after yourself. If you are a more seasoned player, try to encourage play with a newbie! They really appreciate it. Thank you to Cindy Hettinger for welcoming our new pb players.
Our food drive for Matthews Ministries was a big success. We are looking forward to having this become an annual event.
Please consider joining the SJPA so that you can continue to enjoy our activities and events. We are now 315 members strong. Thank you to Al Hausman for our incredible website. Al works tirelessly updating our website with new events, rule changes and anything pickleball!
And finally, any questions/concerns/suggestions, please feel free to contact any member of the board.
Thanks for your support!
